Typical HVAC installation timelines

Straight replacement (no major changes)

Timeframe: 1–2 days
This applies when you’re replacing an existing system with a similar setup and the ductwork and electrical are already adequate. Many furnace, AC, and heat pump replacements fall into this category.

Replacement + ductwork updates

Timeframe: 2–3 days
If ductwork needs repairs, resizing, or airflow improvements, installation typically takes longer. This is common in older homes or when upgrading to higher-efficiency equipment.

Standard electrical work

Timeframe: Typically included in the installation timeframe
Standard electrical work typically does not add to the installation timeframe. If more extensive electrical work is needed, we will review its effect on the schedule during your estimate.

What can affect installation time?

Several factors can influence how long an HVAC installation takes:

  • Permits and inspections required by the city or county

  • Equipment availability or special-order systems

  • Electrical capacity and panel upgrades

  • Ductwork access in attics, crawlspaces, or tight spaces

  • Home layout or age

These details are reviewed during your estimate so timelines are clear before work begins.
