Seattle Heat Pump Installation and Replacements

Yes, a heat pump can be connected to your existing ductwork, but it’s crucial to ensure the ducts are properly sized and in good condition for optimal performance.

What to consider before connecting a heat pump to existing ducts:

• Duct condition – Older or leaky ductwork can reduce efficiency and may need sealing or repairs.
• Proper sizing – Heat pumps require efficient airflow, so ducts that are too small may restrict performance.
• System compatibility – Some modifications may be necessary to ensure your heat pump operates at peak efficiency.

At Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, our Comfort Advisors can assess your current ductwork during an installation consultation and recommend any adjustments needed for maximum efficiency and comfort.

A ductless heat pump, also known as a mini-split system, is an energy-efficient heating and cooling solution that doesn’t require traditional ductwork. Instead, it consists of an outdoor unit connected to one or more indoor units that deliver conditioned air directly into individual rooms.

Key benefits of a ductless heat pump:

• No ductwork required – Ideal for homes without existing ducts, home additions, or rooms needing extra heating/cooling.
• Zone control – Each indoor unit operates independently, allowing customized temperature settings for different areas.
• Energy efficiency – Uses less energy than traditional HVAC systems by eliminating duct losses.
• Quiet operation – Runs quieter than conventional systems for a more comfortable home environment.
• Easy installation – Requires minimal disruption compared to installing ducted systems.

At Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, we offer expert installation and guidance on ductless heat pump systems to help you achieve maximum comfort and efficiency.

Yes, heat pumps are an excellent choice for Seattle’s climate due to their energy efficiency, year-round comfort, and eco-friendly benefits.

Why are heat pumps ideal for Seattle?

• Perfect for mild winters & moderate summers – Seattle’s climate allows heat pumps to efficiently heat and cool homes year-round.
• Energy-efficient operation – Heat pumps transfer heat rather than generate it, using less energy than furnaces or boilers.
• Eco-friendly heating & cooling – When paired with renewable energy, heat pumps offer a low-carbon alternative to traditional systems.
• Cold-weather performance – Many modern heat pumps are designed to work efficiently in colder temperatures, ensuring reliable heating even in winter.

At Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, we’ve been installing high-performance heat pumps for decades and can help you select the best system for your home’s needs.

To keep your heat pump running efficiently and extend its lifespan, we recommend servicing it twice a year:

• Spring – Prepares your system for the cooling season.
• Fall – Ensures optimal performance for heating.

At a minimum, you should have your heat pump serviced once a year to maintain manufacturer warranty requirements. Regular maintenance helps prevent breakdowns, improve energy efficiency, and lower energy costs.

What happens during a heat pump service?

• Inspection & cleaning of essential components
• Refrigerant level check to ensure efficiency
• Airflow verification for consistent comfort
• Early detection of potential issues before they become major repairs

At Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, we offer maintenance plans through our Evergreen VIP Home Comfort Plan, which includes:

✔ Scheduled service visits

The right heat pump size for your home depends on several factors, including:

• Square footage – Larger homes require more capacity.
• Insulation quality – Well-insulated homes retain heat better, reducing demand.
• Window types & placement – Energy-efficient windows help regulate indoor temperatures.
• Home layout – Open floor plans may need different sizing compared to multi-room layouts.

Why proper sizing is important:

• A heat pump that’s too small will struggle to keep your home comfortable.
• An oversized heat pump cycles on and off too frequently, reducing efficiency and lifespan.

At Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, we use ACCA-approved Manual J load calculations to determine the perfect heat pump size for your home. This ensures maximum comfort, efficiency, and energy savings.

Most modern heat pumps are designed to operate quietly, especially compared to older heating and cooling systems.

How loud are heat pumps?

• Most models run at 50-60 decibels – about as quiet as a normal conversation or light rainfall.
• Outdoor units may produce some sound while running, but indoor units are designed for near-silent operation.
• Installation location & system quality can impact noise levels.

At Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, we ensure professional installation to minimize noise and maximize comfort. We also offer some of the quietest heat pump options available, designed to meet Seattle’s stringent sound code requirements.
