Following a thermostat error to a blocked drain in View Ridge
A code on the thermostat does not always mean the thermostat itself needs replacing. At this View Ridge home, the Mitsubishi MHK2 control displayed error 5701. The homeowner needed an explanation for the warning and a practical way to get the system working normally again. Our technician followed the code back to the indoor equipment.
Looking at the air handler
The system included an air handler and a mini-split. At the air handler, we found a clogged condensate drain. The blockage gave the visit a specific repair target: restore the path that lets water leave the indoor equipment.
We treated and cleared the drain. The technician also opened the coil access door to inspect the coil and the drain-pan area rather than stopping at the outside piping. That inspection found slight corrosion where water had been sitting in the pan. The finding helped explain why checking inside the equipment was part of the job.
Clearing the blockage and checking operation
The drain pan was treated from inside, and the blockage was cleared. The technician recorded that the system was functioning again after the work. The service photo shows the air handler and its drain piping, the part of the system that needed attention behind the thermostat warning.
For the homeowner, the useful answer was a located problem and a completed repair, rather than just a code to clear. Annual maintenance and filter changes were recommended to help reduce the chance of another buildup-related interruption. Keeping that drainage path clear became part of the plan for caring for the system over time.
