Replacing the furnace and rethinking the outdoor space in Duvall

Some rooms felt colder than others, both downstairs and upstairs. When we visited this Duvall home, the conversation started with those differences and a practical question outside: could the new heat pump go somewhere other than the old air conditioner’s location?

Those uneven temperatures were the everyday issue behind the equipment discussion. Planning the replacement also meant thinking about how the homeowner used the deck and planting area, rather than treating the outdoor unit as a separate decision.

Walking through the house

We began at the furnace and electrical panel, then walked through the house. The homeowner pointed out that the available floor plan did not quite match the actual layout, so checking dimensions in person mattered. We measured windows and discussed how glass, wall area and outdoor temperatures factor into a heating and cooling load calculation.

The homeowner also described how different rooms warmed up. That led to a conversation about thermostat settings, the circulating fan and how air moved through the home.

Outside, we looked at the existing air conditioner near the deck and planting area, then considered another spot beside the house. Equipment placement and the electrical connection needed to be planned together. Reusing the existing outdoor circuit became part of the installation scope.

The installation

The October installation replaced the gas furnace with a Midea air handler and added a Midea outdoor heat pump with an EVOX G3 Wi-Fi thermostat.

The job photos show the change inside and out: the original furnace, the replacement air handler beneath the existing ductwork and the new outdoor unit beside the house.

If your rooms warm at different rates, describe where you notice it during the estimate visit. That gives the conversation a useful starting point alongside the equipment choices.
